Note:
Laurence Beverly Haste was born in San Francisco on October 22, 1884. He studied at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute in that
city, and at the Cooper Art Institute in New York. Returning to San Francisco, Haste was employed as an illustrator for Sunset
and various East Coast magazines, and became known for his illustrations of covered wagon days and the Gold Rush. Haste died
in Auburn, California on June 21, 1954.
